Stage Split

This early project grew from three seemingly unrelated inspirations, becoming a personal challenge to my belief that “everything is an inspiration.” Drawing from the staged separation of the Saturn V rocket, the bold abstraction of Elizabeth Murray’s artwork I encountered at an exhibition, and the geometric clarity of Matthieu Venot’s photography, I developed a jacket where symmetrical and asymmetrical seam lines collide. It was also where my fascination with experimental trimmings began, expressed through zipper details on the sleeves that echo the rocket’s stages of separation.
